The Irresistibly Sweet Blog Award

1. Thank and link to the person who nominated you. ✓

Gosh, thank you @alib68! Please go and have a look at her blog Fantastic Reads which is a really interesting and fabulous blog. I’ve already found a host of new books through her reviews plus it’s always good to find another boarding school story fan. (Seriously, there’s a lot of us out there, come on out the closet and get involved!)

2. Share seven random facts about yourself.✓
  • I wrote my dissertation on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
  • I really love the Chalet School series. Favourite characters include Madge (pre-marriage) and I’ve got a bit of love for Jacynth Hardy (pooor sad serious Jacynth) and Len Maynard (pre-Reg. Everything pre-Reg).
  • I make amazing chocolate brownies.
  • DVD footage of me exists where I run round random rivers in New Zealand shrieking “If you want him, come and claim him”
  • DVD footage also exists of me walking round a field somewhere near Upper Hutt, New Zealand going “Welcome My Lords to Isengard” (naturally in my best west-country accent).
  • I write fanfic. Buffy. Mainly around Xander because he’s all sorts of interesting as a character.
  • I gave Jilly Cooper a new library card
3. Pass the award along to 8 deserving blog buddies.✓
  • (Just to declare my interest, I’m doing an MA in Children’s Literature with Roehampton)
  • (Graduate students from the MA in Children’s Literature at Cambridge)
  • (Archived now, but this is the original ‘Women in Refrigerators’ blog / site which proved incredibly influential in comic book theory).
  • (Seven Stories’ Enid Blyton Blog – fascinating and worth looking back over how they managed the acquisition of the massive Enid Blyton bequest).
  • (If you are interested in the theoretical aspects of children’s literature, you will come across Maria Nikolajeva who is just amazing in this).
  • (Mary Kole, literary agent, and her brilliant blog all about the world of writing for children. I have a blogcrush on this site).
  • (Amazing blog with some brilliant YA exclusives).
  • (I really love this blog as it makes comic books accessible to anybody new to them  – I do tend to lose the will to live with the X Men timeline so this site is ridiculously useful for me! Some quality reviews  of comics – definitely worth a read).
4. Contact those buddies to congratulate them.✓
Thanks again!
(I’d like to thank my momma, my pappa, my dog, my children, my hairdresser, my aunt, my uncle’s cousin, my ….*band starts playing*)
